Powering IoT Modules Using Solar Panels, SuperCapacitors, and an Automatic Buck/Boost Controller IC Written By: Ron Demcko | Ashley Stanziola | Daniel West Abstract: The use of IoT modules is exhibiting a high rate of growth because of their low cost, ease of implementation, and easily documented impact upon end-user efficiency, reliability, and cost. Manufacturers, installers, and end-users of IoT modules are seeking ways to power these devices and essentially create a set-and-forget module. Set-and-forget means a significant ongoing effort to eliminate batteries or extend the life of batteries powering IoT modules. Manufacturers of IoT modules are working to reduce their designs’ power consumption and also working with IC suppliers by requesting novel chipsets to provide quality power from harvested

Capacitor Reliability Virtual Seminar | TJ Green Associates, LLC

Capacitor Reliability Virtual Seminar | TJ Green Associates, LLC December 1st & 2nd, 2020 | 12 – 2 PM EDT The course is intended for component engineers, designers, process engineers, QEs, and managers responsible for designing and building hardware and procuring capacitors for use in microelectronic assemblies. Ron Demcko, AVX Fellow, will cover a wide range of technologies ranging from ceramic to film, stacked modules and SuperCapacitors. Students will gain an understanding of each capacitor technology ranging from construction, electrical performance and reliability. Performance characteristics are discussed relative to time, temperature, voltage and frequency. Distinctions are made between thin film capacitors and power film capacitors. Stacked capacitor modules – traditionally MLCC based are presented. SuperCapacitor technology is reviewed and

Seven Fundamental Considerations for Selecting EMI Filters

Seven Fundamental Considerations for Selecting EMI Filters

Although effective EMI filtering is particularly important in high-reliability electronics applications with low-power signals, strict signal fidelity demands, and a high cost of failure, such as satellites and pacemakers, it also plays a critical role in commercial applications that require sensitivity to low-power signals in noisy environments, like instrumentation equipment. To protect electronic circuits from interference, device designers often employ… Interference Technology October 14, 2020 Check out the featured article on page 17. http://interferencetechnology.com/2020-emc-fundamentals-guide/ MORE ABOUT EMI FILTERS EMI Filtering for High Reliability Applications EMI Filters Catalog

Miniature Bulkhead EMI Filters for Aerospace Applications

Miniature Bulkhead EMI Filters for Aerospace Applications

Advances in multi-layer ceramic capacitor (MLCC) manufacturing have led to significant improvements in the voltage and capacitance capabilities of miniature case size capacitors. These advances have extended to ceramic discoidal capacitors, which are employed in most bulkhead-mounted EMI suppression filters. They are now available in smaller packages and make the control of EMI in space- and weight-constrained aerospace applications easier and more reliable. Currently, discoidal capacitors can be manufactured with outer diameters as small as 0.050” with as much as 5,000pF of capacitance. They also have equivalent models, which helps ensure effective… Signal Integrity Journal October 6, 2020 http://www.signalintegrityjournal.com/blogs/12-fundamentals/post/1894-miniature-bulkhead-emi-filters-for-aerospace-applications
